A group of ten found guilty of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

The those on trial faced accusations of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making malicious remarks about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.

A persistent conspiracy theory claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the US against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's identity.

Their lawsuit states that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has often echoed these assertions on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 declared that she would risk all her credibility on her belief that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his high school.

The two married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
