It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was considerably tougher to predict.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it seemed I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to play and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed Australia needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success following success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.
