Area Police
Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the residents for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident left him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
